History

R.W. Engineering & Surveying is the successor in interest to Sides & Associates.

Our history:

Our firm was founded in Omaha, Nebraska in 1980 by Roy Sides as a one person firm dedicated to providing professional services for Public Works projects.  With 17 years of experience as a Construction Engineer for the City of Omaha Public Works Department, Roy knew the market well and set out to provide a higher level of service than he had received as a city official.  The company was named Sides & Associates and it was started to serve the growing demand for Construction Administration services.  One thing Roy could not anticipate was the skyrocketing interest rates in 1980!  The firm struggled in the first few years and then saw moderate success by the nineties.   Additional professional services were added in 1996 with the staff addition of civil engineer in training, Russell Falconer and land surveyor in training, Joel Jacobsen.  In 2001, professional licenses were earned by Russell and Joel respectively and client relations slowly began to shift from Roy.  Ownership transition talks began soon after that and in December 2006, Roy retired and the professionals that helped the company grow and prosper are now leading the firm.  All of the staff remained and they remain committed to serving clients in a professional and timely manner.  Today, 30 years later, Roy's mission still stands as we strive to provide the highest level of service to each and every task, project, client, budget, deadline, etc.
